I am wondering who owns Lousianna football, fan base and loyalty wise, the New Orleans Saints or the LSU tigers? My hypothesis would be that the Tigers do due to their winning tradition and fan base. The Saints are realtively new to this winning business.
Who owns Lousianna football, the Saints or the Tigers?
Definitely LSU.
Just drive around Louisiana, every third or forth (or every other if near Baton Rouge) car has a LSU decal on it. Too many people are skittish about getting behind the Saints due to their LONG track record of not coming through for their fans. Many of the people running around shouting "Who Dat?" last year were no where to be found after the first four games this season.
At my house we raise the LSU flag outside for every LSU game, no matter their record this season. I think the Saints will need to win a Super Bowl to catch up with LSU.
GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

There are more New Orleans Saints fans than LSU fans.
LSU has been good for the last few years (7-8 or so) but before that they were pretty terrible too for the bulk of 3 decades so they dont exactly have a "winning tradition" (but then again neither do the Saints).
Other LA schools have a fan base that cuts into LSUs "dominance" such as Tulane, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, LA Tech, Southeastern LA, Nicholls, McNeese St, etc. (not to mention other out of state schools - I have lived in LA my whole life and hate LSU as a Tennessee fan) whereas the Saints are universally liked in the state. Western LA has a decent constituency of Cowboy fans, but not nearly enough to challenge the Saints.
Lots of LSU fans are bandwagonners who did not join until LSU got good and won the Natl Champ. in 2003., whereas most people loved the Saints even though they were terrible throughout the enitreity of the franchise until last year.
You are asking this question from the pretext that they are mutually exclusive. They are not. Many of LSU faithful are also faithful to the Saints. I have been a Saints fan since John Gilliam returned the opening kickoff of the 1967 season for a 93 yard touchdown! And I have been an LSU fan all that time also. I attended all of the LSU games in the 70's and most of the Saints games in the 70's. The Saints have a loyal following throughout the state.
I would say both.
Both of them are on fire right now, but the Saints will soon own all of Louisana as they make their run to the NFC championship.
I totally agree. My mom has watched the Saints every year since i can remember and i dont recall them winning as much has they have been in the the past couple years. And everywhere i look there is LSU stuff everywhere and saints lol dont have nothing hardly. So I say Tigers
Definitely the LSU Tigers because they win more. Last year, I would've said the Saints.
Has been and always will be LSU...Losing seasons are few and far between and considerd a less stressful season by true LSU fans
