Seriously? It pisses me off that the cowboys-packers games, which was the most important regular game of the season besides the colts-pats, was aired on a small network as opposed to a huge one like ABC or CBS or whatever. In addition, if the pats go undefeated, guess where is the only place you can watch that historic last regular season game?

The root cause is a dispute between the NFL and cable providers. The NFL wants their channel to be part of basic cable, the cable companies want to add it as a premium channel. At some point one of them will break down, but expect it to cost you the fan extra $ each month no matter which way it goes.

Either way it's costing fans, many of whom are missing out on some of the best games of the year. My girlfriend actually gets the NFL network on her dish, but I don't bother watching because the announcers are so horrible.

1.) You may have had an odd number of teams so Yahoo pushes the draft back to another date unless there were a even number of teams.

2.) You might of accidentally changed it to an autopick draft. I would go to your commissioner tools and change it to a live draft and set it on another date.

they will stay in the team but they can release their player if they want to but i strongly advised not to do it. in one of my leagues, the commissioner simply locked the teams who failed to advance to the playoff, to prevent some collusion between those teams who are in the playoffs and who are eliminated.

it depends on the league. In some leagues they just play the other teams that are also eliminated. In other leagues, the teams are basically just there. They don't play anybody.

Playing Australian football, I got my bell rung once (opponent cheap shotted me) and sprained a finger when I grabbed a player by the jersey instead of wrapping him up.

Yes, American football players wear pads and Aussies don't. But American footballers, because of the pads, can deliver much more vicious and violent hits, than Aussies. Don't get me wrong, Aussies can hit hard, but most of the violent Aussie hits are against the rules and are penalized (it's called charging and is a reportable offense). Aussie rules is more continuous, in American football they stop the game every ten seconds or so whenever there's a tackle on a certain yard line, and then you have to wait for 1-2 minutes for the next play to begin. I find it quite boring actually. Aussie rules is much more fast-paced there is no stopping the game when there is a tackle, no timeouts, no nothing. The game is only stopped when a player needs to be carried off on a stretcher, or when the ball goes out of play. Because of the faster pace and less stop-start, goal scoring is a lot more frequent in Aussie Rules, like every four or five minutes. Oh, and there's the safety gear American footballers wear. Our Aussie boys don't wear helmets and tights, no padding, most of them don't even wear shinguards, just mouthguards. And our boys play in the rain, hail or shine. It's fun to see them sliding around in the mud when you can't tell who's who cause they're all covered in brown sludge!

The defense personnel has evolved to be bigger, stronger and faster than previous generations. The triple option can work if the offense have players that can execute well on each play. However, being that the defensive scheme has evolved as well, I believe it's easier to play a different offensive system and make more effective plays to gain yards, to offset the defense, and for trickery.
Really the Triple Option is rarely used now. The variation that Meyer and Rodriguez use is the spread option. Texas used it as well during Vince Young's career. Paul Johnson did use a Triple Option at Georgia Southern and at Navy but I will be surprised if you see that at Tech now. The Triple Option just isn't as dynamic as a spread option but can still be effective if you have the skill players to make it work.

It works it just takes a very good quarterback to use it effectively. The option is a considerable portion of West Virginia and Florida's ideal offense. It is evolving though, and now it is disguised, sending receivers in motion rather than using the traditional tailback. It's a good rushing play to use with the spread because it gives you even more options after you see how the defense reacts to the play and it gives fast/strong quarterbacks a good chance to gain yardage if the opportunity presents itself.

The real challenge rests with the offensive line, I believe. If the offense line doesn't hold long enough for the quarterback to make his initial read, pulling the ball from the fullback and falling into the option with the halfback won't be protected like it should. It's tough for an offensive line to create holes for the fullback while protecting for the potential option to the halfback. Honestly, I'm sure it will wear the oline down after a while, which is why I don't think they get as much credit as they deserve.

Really though, it's just how effective the quarterback is at making his reads. A solid defense can spy the quarterback, read the play well, and stop the triple option. Basically, it is just easier to stop than it is to run. And when you have teams adopting the spread offense like many teams are doing now, defenses are starting to pick up on it. Occassionally though, you will have a quarterback who appears to have been made for the option system. Those quarterbacks are 1 in 100.
It works, it's just executed in a different form than it was years ago. Watch WVU and you will see it from time to time. And, if WVU is smart, with Pat White, Noel Devine, and Steve Slaton coming, they should run those three out all the time. Gl to the defense that has to cover that.
Well, Meyer and Rodriguez dont use a TRIPLE option, which includes the fullback. They run a spread option, which requires the QB to read defensive ends and linebackers.

It's not that it doesn't work, it's just that if the defense ur playing against has all-american talent at every corner (USC, and yes, believe it or not Ohio State), those plays get blown up.

There's also so little margin for error, a bad toss from the QB could be a game-changing fumble. Also, teams that run the option tend to be poor passing teams, so if ur teams defense gives up a 14 or more points early, u could be out of the game quickly.

West Virginia has three trememdous talents in White, Slaton, and Devine to run the spread option, but its pretty rare to get all of the pieces to fit as well as they do in West Virginia.

Lastly its not popular anymore to have your quarterback taking hits from the big and fast defensive players.

Most people would say Anderson, because he has been a bit more consistent, but I am feeling good about Donovan this week!

He has a match up against the Jets who have allowed a lot of yards and are kind of a mess anyway, plus he is coming of a week of rest and all of his receivers are back and healthy.

Think of it this way, if Anderson has a great week you will do great, but if McNabb has a great week it will be STELLAR...he is just an all around better QB.
The McNabb/Westbrook combination is unbeatable. Anderson does have some weapons to work with, but many times, I use the current ESPN quarterback rankings to help me make these tough determinations. On my roster, I'd start McNabb over Anderson.

Anderson has been more consistant and that is what you look for in FF. With McNabb you never know what you are going to get week to week. He did great against the DET DEF, and the was the first and last time this entire season he has done anything. I can't start a player like that and feel comfortable.

Anderson is going up against a hurt and weak DEF in MIA. I like his chances to be able to throw the ball a lot down the field. I think he can really spread it out and make their DEF work a lot. Even though McNabb probably has the favorable DEF match-up this week, you dont know which McNabb your going to get.

I would say Anderson under any other circumstances. But McNabb has a chance to get the team back on track against the Jets pass D. I have a feeling that he's going to have another of those great games. The Eagles will come into this game like its their last and McNabb will be right there.

Very expensive and somewhat complicated Computer Graphics. Shortest answer is that there are basically little sensors that are used across the field and turned down for where the ball needs to go when it is all said and done. Basically the game is sent by broadcast tape to a computer and instantly being sent to the TV. Yeah technology is that amazing and that fast. If you want a long drawn out explanation, I don't have it. I watched about it one time when they were talking about how they do it but basically don't remember a thing lol.

I love Moss against the weak defense of the Giants, worst pass defense in the league after two weeks yardage wise.. Moss had 6 catches for 89 yrds last week. I like Branch as I think Cinci's ability to score will force Seattle in to a track meet plus the Bengal defense is weak as well. (Branch had 7 catches for 122 yrds last week (he didn't play in week 1)). I like Welker as I see no let up in New England offensively; they play like they're out to make statements. I like Welker's chances of scoring a TD against again one of the league's worst pass defenses. Welker had 8 catches for 91 yrds last week.

All three players ae going against weaker pass defenses than they did last week too. Remember... Giants, Bengals, Bills = WEAK pass defenses. Bills- 5 rec TDs surrendered, Bengals-5 rec TDs surrendered, Giants- 7 rec TDs surrendered.

Randle-El is a #2 behind Moss who you have. (4 catches/ 44 yrds last wk). The Raiders don't pass well enough for me to want to hope for a TD reception from Curry. (2 catches/12 yrds last wk). The 49ers don't score enough to force Pittsburgh into the air, should be the Willie Parker show, so I will let Ward rest this week (5 catches/55yrds last wk)

So for me it's Moss, Branch, and Welker.

Catching requires reps. Practice different routes, In, Out, slant, flag, post etc. i found it hardest for the outs and flags. it never seemed natural to me and took lots of practice to be able to do it.

Practice with motion around you as well. My coach would have a defensive back close in on us as we made our break and shout to force our concentration.

Biggest thing is that you got to keep your eyes on the ball all the way into the tuck. dont worry about running til you know that the ball is secure.

This might be boring but it's simple, when I was watching tv or just hanging out I'd lay on my back on the floor and throw the ball in the air at the ceiling and catch it when it fell back. Or play catch with a friend. Watch the ball all the way into your hands and try to catch everything no matter how bad the throw is, that's how you'll end up making those spectacular catches. I would say get one or more freinds to throw you footballs in rapid fire fashion.concentrate on the ball all the way into your hands and catch it cleanly before it hits you in the chest.do this hundreds if not 1000s of times.this may also help you to concentrate on the ball and not on the defender about to nail you when you are in live game action.

Hate to bust your bubble but you cannot earn money with fantasy football unless you are gambling...and even if you were the best (no one is) you cannot make a living at it....football season is also too short.

If you attempt to write a book, it needs to better than the good ones already out there...

There are also many websites out there already that have information for fantasy players (all sports) so you would have to come up with a better mouse trap so to speak. These websites have the financial backing of major sports groups and in some cases the backing of sports books. To break into this arena will require more $$$ than I one man operation can provide...it takes several people to update stats in a timely manner and you would have to pay these people to do the work...

Unfortunately, most Fantasy Football leagues are fun, pride orientated activities with relatively low stakes. I've never heard about a serious, high stakes league before. Its not like Poker where you can find action anywhere at any time. Not to mention, its not as constant of action as a Poker game. You only see action on weekends, and if you're just talking football, then you only are in season 4 months out of the year.

My guess is that anyone that would be interested in such a league probably puts up more cash on the Sports Book just because of the more constant action. If you're serious about it, though, I'd recommend going to Vegas and asking around at the Sports Books. If there's big money being played, I'm guessing its contained within the inner circles.

Can football players be signed on loan outside the transfer window?

I have 2 questions:

1.Can Real Madrid sign Michael Ballack on loan right now ?

2.Can Ballack buy himself out of his contract with Chelsea(thereby becoming a free-agent) and then sign with Real Madrid(outside the transfer window,again)?

Just wondering......I don't know much about transfers and loan deals.

1. No, he won't be able to play under any case till the transfer window opens again in Janauary. They can sign him ofcourse, but will officialy move only in January.

2. He can buy himself out (i doubt he has the money though), but then again, he cant play for Madrid until the transfer window opens.

To help make it clear, the only players outside the registered players in Madrid that can play first team before january, are the ones in the youth system Madrid B, C.

Any player from outside the club has to wait till the transfer window.

2. Yes. He can't play in the CL because registration is closed, but he is EU National, and would be able to play friendlies and domestic matches. I think he'd have some trouble playing on one leg though.
Within the Dutch league the loans thing is standard practice, but I don't know if this is true for other leagues, or if it's possible in international transfers. If it is possible, and he moves before he's played for Chelsea in the CL he can't play for Real Madrid in the CL group stage. He'd have to wait till the QF. If he does play in the CL for Chelsea first, he can't play for Real in the CL all season.

What is certainly possible is for Chelsea to fire Ballack, or for Ballack to buy out his contract. That would leave him without a club, and in that case, any club can snap him up.
They can't sign him on loan until January 1st, and if he did buy himself out of his contract they could sign him up but he would be ineligable to play until January 1st.

Tech got stuffed on a fourth and inches vs. Texas that would have iced the game in 2006. Tech also could have recovered a fumble that would have allowed them to run the clock out. However Texas came back after finishing the first quarter down 21-0 to win 35-31. I'd love to see Tech get revenge in Austin.
